Vangi Bath


Ingredients

For Podi

  • Coriander Seeds 3 tsp
  • Bengal Gram  2 tsp
  • Black Gram   2 tsp
  • Jeera 1 tsp
  • Masala Mogga 5-6 (Small Size)
  • Cinnamon Stick 1/2 inch
  • Cloves 5-6
  • Dry Coconut 1 tbsp
  • Red Chillies 10

For Rice

  • Rice 1 cup
  • Brinjal 5-6 
  • Potato 1
  • Curry leaves
  • Lemon or tamarind paste 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Bengal gram 1 tsp
  • Urad dal 1tsp
  • Jeera 1/2 tsp
  • Hing
  • red chilly 1

Procedure

For Podi

  1. Dry Roast all the ingredients except coconut, let them cool
  2. Blend them to smooth powder

For Rice

  1. Wash and Soak rice for 30 mins and cook for 3 whistles.Let it Cool completely
  2. Cut potato and Brinjal into long pieces and put them in water(They wont turn black in color)
  3. Now heat oil in a Pan , add mustard seeds,jeera.when they start splutter add Bengal gram and urad dal fry till they are golden brown
  4. Now add curry leaves,hing and red chili
  5. Add Potato ,cook for few minutes .Now add brinjal .Cook them till they are soft
  6. Add Vangi Bath Powder .Mix well and Switch off the flame
  7. Add this to Cooked rice ,Mix well.Squeeze lemon or add tamarind paste ,mix well
  8. Serve Vangibath
