BisiBela Bath

Ingredients 

  • Sona Masoori rice - 1 cup
  • Toor dal or kandi pappu - 1 cup
  • Jaggery little bit
  • Tamarind pulp
  • Salt
  • Bisibela bath powder - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric
  • Onion
  • Tomatoes
  • Beans
  • Carrots
  • Fresh peas
  • Potatoes
  • Coriander leaves

For Seasoning

  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Jeera  -1/2 tsp
  • Bengal gram  -1 tsp
  • Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • Dry red chilly -1
  • oil or ghee

Procedure

  1. Wash and Soak toor dal and rice for 10 mins and add toor dal and rice in cooker and cook,wait for 3 whistles and switch off
  2. In a pressure cooker add all the chopped vegetables except tomato and cook till 1 whistle and switch off
  3. In a kadai Add oil or ghee ,heat it.Add Mustard seeds,jeera and let them splutter , now add bengal gram dry red chilly fry for 2 mins,add curry leaves ,hing mix well and add chopped tomatoes ,cook till tomatoes become soft and mushy
  4. Take cooked rice and dal pressure cooker , add all the cooked vegetables and tomatoes seasoning , jaggery ,tamatind pulp and Bisibela bath masala powder ,Mix well add water if necessary
  5. Cook for 10 mins and mix it in intervals 
  6. Serve bisibela bath with boondi or any papad
