Borugula Tiruvatha or Ugani (Murmura or Puffed rice upma)

Ingredients

  • Puffed rice or Borugulu or murmura 3 cups
  • Onions 2 
  • Tomato  1(optional)
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Bengal Gram and urad dal(Split) 1 tsp
  • Fresh Coriander
  • Turmeric
  • Salt
  • Lemon
  • Green Chilli Paste

Procedure

  1. First soak puffed rice in water and once it becomes soft take small quantity , squeeze of the water, keep it a side.Repeat the process 
  2. In a Kadai , add oil .Once hot , add mustard seeds, Bengal gram,urad dal fry for 2 mins .Add curry leaves ,and chopped onion.mix well
  3. Cook till onions are transparent
  4. Now add Turmeric , Green chilli paste and cook for 2 mins
  5. Add soaked Puffed rice , mix well.Cook for 5 mins , Give a stir in between intervals
  6. Add fresh coriander and switch off the flame
  7. Squeeze Lemon
  8. Serve hot with any podi or pickle
  9. Mirchi Bajji goes well with this
