Menthula Pappu (Fenugreek Seeds Dal)

Ingredients

  • Toor Dal - 1 cup
  • Jaggery - little bit
  • Tamarind pulp
  • Salt
  • Red chillies -10 
  • Methulu or FenuGreek Seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Hing
  • Garlic cloves - 4

Procedure

  1. In a kadai add oil ,heat it
  2. Once oil is hot , add mustard and jeera seeds , let them splutter
  3. now add Methi seeds ,Dry red chillies (Cut them into small pieces),Curry leaves, Garlic and hing.Let it fry for 2 mins
  4. In a Pressure cooker , add soaked Toor dal , water,Chopped onions and above seasoning .
  5. Cook till 3 whistles
  6. Once cool down , Add tamarind pulp, jaggery and salt , cook fro 5 mins
  7. Serve with rice or Vadappa
